RECIPIE // HOME MADE ‘OREO’ COOKIES

Here, I present a version of the classic American Oreo cookie. I found the recipe on grouprecipes.com and followed it exactly bar the cocoa, where I cheated and used hot chocolate cocoa powder rather than the real deal. They probably suffered slightly for it, so the flavour wasn’t as strong as it could have been.

Easy to make, so if you’re not too confident at the old baking malarkey then these are for you!
The following made approximately 30 sandwiches:
175g Plain flour
45g Cocoa powder
1 Tsp Bicarb
1 Tsp Baking P.
1/2 Tsp Salt
300g Caster sugar
140g Butter
1 Large egg
  • Pre heat the oven to 190c or Gas 4
  • Mix togther the above ingredients until it forms a loose dough
  • Scoop 1/2 rounded Tsp full of the mixture onto a baking tray and flatten slightly and spsce roughly 5cm apart
  • Cook for roughly 9 minutes, but keep an eye on them!
57g Butter
57g Lard
280g Icing sugar
2 Tsp Vanilla extract
  • Mix together with a spoon until it forms a paste
  • Spread as much or as little as you wish on one side of the biscuit, then squish together!

Enjoy with a lovely shot of ice cold milk. Then twist apart and dunk, or do a whole in one :)
